Cast with a premium ultra hard, UV resistant resin, Clarity is our offering for pen makers that need a clear material that holds up over time. This resin is FAA/DOT approved for lenses and is designed to resist yellowing.

An 85D hardness rating means it's scratch resistant and easier to polish than other urethanes. Also, heat rated to 30-40 degrees higher than Alumilite.

The tinted rods have a subtle sparkle in them from our patent pending diamond mix.

Due to the nature of this resin, there will usually be a few small defects on the outside of the rod, including small bubbles. These are surface defects only. They are mixed in a vortex mixer that reduces air in the mix and cast under high pressure to ensure the rods are bubble free on the inside. The high viscosity of the resin usually results in some small 1mm or so bubbles on the outside that get trapped against the steel mold.

Please note, all resins will yellow a bit over time. This particular one will stay clearer for much longer than other urethanes. It has undergone rigorous testing by the FAA for use in obstructive lenses (any yellowing over the course of 1.5 years would fail the resin) and we've had pieces in house for 2 years that are are clear as the day we cast them.

A chameleon material, this blank is: from one angle gold ore; from another, silver ore; at a third, it is pyrite; and from another, it is all of these and more. Beautiful work, McKenzie Penworks. Great job guys. keep it up

So many words to describe this blank; dazzling, spectacular, brilliant, are just a few to start the list. I only wish we could post pictures so I could see what others have done with this and other Diamondcast products. Maybe server space won't allow it. Think about it anyway, Tim. ;-)
